Capilla near San Miguel - 11x14 wc
This delightful little, almost Greek-style chapel is located at a Benedictine monastery in central Mexico, a few miles from San Miguel. I had met a local woman at the library in San Miguel who told me about this little white chapel on a hillside. It sounded like a place I ought to visit. When I asked how to get there she replied, “I go to church there every Sunday, I’ll take you”. The next Sunday with all my painting gear I climbed into her 25-year-old VW bug and away we went. While she attended Mass, I sat outside painting. I painted, the congregation sang, the monks chanted, and all the sounds softly echoed out of this little chapel into the countryside. It was undoubtedly the most interesting surround sound system I’ve experienced.
